BioThis is a roleplaying journal for the character Liz Sherman. It is in no way affiliated with Dark Horse Comics or Selma Blair.
History
Elizabeth Sherman was born on April 15, 1962 in Kansas City, KA. Her life was pleasant and normal; her father was a chartered accountant and her mother was a homemaker. Liz enjoyed the usual childhood things, ballet lessons and bike riding and rollerskating, and all was well until her eleventh birthday. A few weeks after the party, her powers manifested for the first time and the resulting explosion of fire destroyed an entire block. Among the thirty-two fatalities were her parents.
She was briefly placed in foster care, but was quickly snapped up by the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. Realizing that if she were left untrained she could potentially kill more people, the BPRD gained custody of her and attempted to train her to control her powers. They were marginally successful; Liz was able to control when the fire came, but not what it did once it was out.
When she was old enough, they made her an official agent and she was often paired with Hellboy and Abe Sapien during missions. Periodically, though, she had to take time off to deal with her own problems, and at one point had herself committed in a bid to work through her guilt over killing her parents. She tried medication as well, but neither option worked very well. After she returned to the BPRD, she was sent on a new mission, where she attempted to rid herself of her power by placing it inside a homonculus. The transfer gave the homonculus life, but put Liz in a coma, where she remained until the homonculus - named Roger - returned her powers.
After waking up from her coma, she retreated to the Ural Mountains, where she lived with a society of monks who taught her control of her emotions. As a result, she gained greater control over her powers and, while she is still capable of massive explosions, she can also produce small flames to light her way in the dark.
Personality
Liz is somewhat withdrawn as a result of her struggles to master her power. She has a tendency to push people away, not because she's unfriendly but because she still harbors guilt and fear over what happened to her family. Underneath her initial hesitation, she is a caring person.
Liz has a temper that she tries very hard to suppress with varying degrees of success. She uses sarcasm as a defense mechanism and bottles up a lot of her more negative emotions.
